Food for Thought:
The Binge & Cheating

Scenario: So I just binged... It wasn't the best example of discipline for the day. It sure did taste good but now I feel guilty. Conviction led me to look up how many calories just happened to be in that little indulgence. Hard to believe they can pack 500 calories into something so small!

How do we remedy this? I am by no means going to tell you not to cheat! I can't because my clients often catch me eating the kinds of things a three year old daughter likes to eat. The trick is, don't let it get stored as body fat! Burn it out of your bloodstream before it gets from the stomach to the "belly". This "food for thought" is that once it's stored, it takes more to burn it off.

I like to go to a 7:00 PM movie, eat my popcorn, come home and work out for 45 minutes. I believe the trick is to have activity after a binge. Now whose gonna quite eating ice cream before bed? Well, I did! You have to! That's my iron fist! I believe from personal and anecdotal experiences that it works! It makes sense, doesn't it. Don't cheat and then go lie down! Like I said, don't give up your treats, eat them strategically! Go for a walk after dessert. Play with the kids. Why not cheat in the morning before a big day at work. Eating that same exact piece of cake at night before eight hours of inactivity will add up and getcha! Use your imagination with activities you can do and throw out our our dang american nocturnal treats away. Late night, when the blood sugar is low and activity is low, it's a great time for the body to slow burn bodyfat! Motivate with this... When you get your night time urge, it's your body gearing up to burn fat! Don't blow it!

Kids teach us: eat sugar and bounce off the walls for a while till it burns off. Why do we think we can eat the same treats and then just sit there? Kid's constant activities keep them from storing fat. They tap into their blood sugar and use it till they bonk. We could learn something from them... They really burn their binges and earn their naps. How about us? Perhaps regardless of age, we start getting older (and heavier)when we quite playing!
